Kagzy: Document Scanner & PDF · by Workaholic Developers · effective 11 October 2026 · updated 18 October 2026

Kagzy turns paper into PDFs on your phone. There is no Kagzy account and no Kagzy server: we never receive your documents, your text, your signatures or any information about you.

What Kagzy keeps, and where

  • Your documents (page images, the text Kagzy reads from them, the signatures, text and ticks you place, names, folders and tags) are stored only in Kagzy's private storage on your phone.
  • Saved signatures and initials are additionally encrypted (AES-256-GCM). The key is kept in the iPhone Keychain or the Android Keystore and never leaves the phone.
  • Settings (language, theme, filters, app lock choice) are stored on the phone.
  • Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include Kagzy's documents, as it does for other apps. Saved signatures are left out of Android backups, and on iPhone their key stays on the device, so they can't be read from a backup.

To delete everything, delete the documents in Kagzy or uninstall the app.

Camera and photos

  • The camera is used only while you scan. On iPhone, Kagzy uses Apple's document camera (VisionKit). On Android, Kagzy uses Google's document scanner, which runs inside Google Play services on your phone and hands the scanned pages back to Kagzy.
  • When you import photos, the system photo picker gives Kagzy only the photos you choose; Kagzy can't see the rest of your library.
  • Kagzy adds images to your Photos only when you choose "Save Image" from the share sheet, or save scanned photo prints (below).

Photo prints

  • To scan old photo prints, Kagzy uses its own camera screen on your phone. The photo is processed on the phone and kept only in Kagzy's private storage until you save or discard the prints.
  • To turn each print the right way up, Kagzy checks on the phone whether it shows faces or text and which way they face (Apple Vision on iPhone; Android's built-in face detector and Google ML Kit text recognition on Android). Kagzy doesn't recognise who anyone is, and nothing about faces is stored or sent anywhere.
  • When you choose "Save to Photos", Kagzy adds the prints to an album called "Kagzy Prints", with the date and caption you typed written into each photo. On iPhone, Kagzy asks for access to your photo library because only an app with that access may create an album; Kagzy uses it only to add your prints to that album and doesn't look at, upload or change your other photos. On Android, the prints are saved in Pictures › Kagzy Prints.

Reading text (OCR)

Text is recognised on your phone: Apple Vision and the open-source Tesseract engine on iPhone, Google ML Kit on Android. Your pages and their text are never uploaded.

On Android, Google's ML Kit and Google Play services may send Google anonymous usage and diagnostic information about these features (for example, that a scan or text recognition ran and how long it took). They do not send your images or text. Google's use of this information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Face ID, Touch ID and passcode

If you turn on App lock, Kagzy asks your phone to confirm it's you. The check happens in the operating system: Kagzy never receives your face, fingerprint or passcode.

Widgets, Shortcuts and Control Center

To show your recent and favourite documents in widgets, Kagzy copies small thumbnails and the documents' names into an area shared only with its own widgets. Documents in the Private folder are never shown there, and you can hide previews (Settings › Show previews in widgets, or the eye button on the widget). Shortcuts and Siri only open Kagzy; nothing is sent anywhere.

Sharing

Kagzy sends a document to another app only when you share it, save it to Files or print it, and only to the app or printer you choose.

Network

The iPhone app makes no network requests of its own. Opening a link (this website, the studio's website, another app's page) opens your browser. On Android, the Google components above may connect to Google as described.

Tracking and advertising

None. Kagzy has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect personal data.

Children

Kagzy is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
